Harbor Cruise
by Alan on Jul.25, 2010, under san diego

Saturday we went to a wedding for one of the girls Tracey used to work with and had a great time. The reception was a harbor cruise on one of the Hornblower ships. A two hour cruise of San Diego harbor. I have been lucky enough to take this cruise once before but still enjoyed it as much as if it was my first time.

Stolen G1 Phone Replacement
by Alan on Jan.25, 2010, under My Blog, android
Just over 30 days after I got my G1 it was stolen at work and I was going through G1 Android withdrawal. I found out I didnt have insurance on the phone and was going to have to pay full price to get another. I decided to go into my local T-Mobile store that I had started service with and talked to one of the reps and she verified there was no insurance on the phone. She called out the manager (Van) and he took a look at my account and was able to find a way to get me another G1 at NO COST to me.
If your in North San Diego and need a phone or help with your T-Mobile account I would suggest stopping into SD Wireless and speaking to Van, or give them a call at:

Google Android phone
by Alan on Dec.16, 2009, under My Blog, android
I just picked up my Android phone and love it so far. I had the choice between the My TOUCH and the g1 with T-Mobile and even though the My Touch has more ram I did not want to be stuck with only the virtual keyboard, so I got the G1 with its slider keyboard.
I am typing this on my G1’s keyboard and don’t think I would be able to on a virtual keyboard with my big fingers,
First thing I noticed is when you first setup your G phone is it asks you to log into your google account or create one, Then it pulls down all your contact info into the phones contact list. It also sets up your gmail account on your home page, But your not stuck with just your gmail account, there is also a mail app that works with your yahoo, hotmail/live, imap/pop3 accounts. Allowing you to assign 5 email accounts.
There seems to be an app for just about anything you want to do. I will get into the apps in more detail later but right now my favorite apps are
DxTop a home page replacement
Nav Launcher launches google maps in navigator mode.
WPToGo A WP blog app
Shazam Song tagging. Identify the song that is playing and buy it from Amazon if you would like

Platinum Rock Stars Return To Canes
by Alan on Sep.26, 2009, under Bands, My Blog, Rock And Roll
I was present for another great show by Platinum Rock Stars at Canes Thursday night. This time I brought my camera and they brought Al Estrada their lead guitarist who was absent last time I saw them play Canes in Pacific Beach. If your in southern California or Las Vegas when they are in town, and love classic rock and roll check be sure to see them live. Find their show schedule on their website PlatinumRockStars.com

Platinum Rock Stars as Boston
It was a wet foggy night in Pacific Beach but the show was definately hot as the day was in San Diego. As you can see from this video of Al Estrada lead guitarist of Platinum Rock Stars as Eddie Van Halen.

Platinum Rock Stars as Journey
One thing I noticed that was absent from the last show were the two women dressed in tutu’s dancing around at front of stage.

Watch out Beyonce this baby has all the moves.
The hottest video on the net tonight is of this baby dancing to Beyonce’s Single Ladies (Should Have Put A Ring On It). This video definately put a smile on my face tonight.

Anyone heard of Bell’s Palsy before? I had once since a co-worker had gotten it several years ago. But most of who I have talked to have not heard of it. Well now I have an opportunity to inform more about it.
Seven days ago I was diagnosed with Bell’s Palsy. A supposed temporary illness or nerve disorder of the face that is supposed to lessen over time. I created a separate blog to address it and track my progression. The blog url is Alan’s Bell Palsy. Drop in and check on my..
Talk to you later.

Platinum RockStars
by Alan on Jul.18, 2009, under Bands, My Blog, Rock And Roll
Last night we went to Canes Bar and Grill in Pacific Beach to see Platinum RockStars a rock tribute band that performs tributes to Journey, Boston, Foreigner, Def Leppard, Van Halen, and Bon Jovi.
It was a great night with some great music. The night started out with a little Boston, Foreigner and after a quick costume change Journey. When David Victor came back on stage with the red jacket, I swear it sounded like he was channeling Steve Perry. A great set of some great music that took me back to my younger years.
After a short break Van Halen was on stage performing some of their hits. I kept thinking the only thing that was missing was the fifth of Jack Daniels that Van Halen always seemed to be drinking in the 80’s. The lead guitarist Al Estrada (Founder of Van Halen Tribute Band Eruption) was not present last night but was replaced by Mike McManus of Queens Nation who did did a fantastic job.
Another costume change and Mike McManus steps on stage as Richie Sambora followed by David Victor as Jon Bon Jovi for some truly great Bon Jovi tunes. We were all living on a prayer.
The night finished up with some great Def Leppard tunes, sadly to say I had to leave before I could hear the whole Def Leppard set due to having to be up early for work the next morning.
I just saw Platinum RockStars will be playing Pala Casino Halloween night. I will need to call and make reservations this week. If you missed them at Canes dont miss them at Pala Casino.
Check their website Platinum RockStars for more show info
